While growing up, my German grandmother used to knit sweaters for my sister and me; because of this I have always had a fascination with knitting. When I was twelve my grandmother taught me the knit stitch; this led to the creation of the most brightly colored, uneven scarf which never left the needles.
After having my two children and becoming a stay at home, I re-visited my knitting roots as a much needed way to avoid insanity. I re-taught myself the knit stitch and then moved onto purling which, of course, led to knitting sweaters. I began to knit heavily between diaper changes, preschool and walks to the park. My knitting obsession eventually brought me to spinning and creating my own yarns. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest and currently living near Mt. Hood, Oregon, has influenced the style of my knitting greatly. My needles are usually full of chunky, textured yarns and plain sweaters. I am all about showing off the beautiful yarn in a simple knit; though, I may throw in a cable or two from time to time. I lean toward natural colors and styles that can stand the test of time when knitting my sweaters.
Knitting and spinning has become a lifestyle for me; with it there are many ways to challenge myself and learn new things. I am proud to be a part of such an open and wonderful community that is always willing to share new ideas and push my creativity to the next level.
